You may imagine it is easy to get swept up into "Going Green" while living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I suppose it is true for me. However, I was always interested in alternate forms of energy as a teenager and at Purdue. One of my favorite classes at Purdue was Prof. Tsao's class in biochemical engineering. Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who is dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. Around 1977, Bill Sprague and I were chasing a car full of pledges trying to get away on walk-out. We chased them down University and out past the stadium around 2am at a very fast clip. As we passed the stadium, Bill yelled "cops". The pledges turned left toward the golf course and floored it. I turned left into some traffic that happened by. The cops went roaring past me and the traffic after the now small tail lights way up the road. A couple miles later the cop had pulled over the pledge car… Continue
